Happy Mother's Day!

Special Edition for Sunday, May 9, 2010

Nostalgia and sentiment ran deep in Victorian popular music, and James Royce (1881-1946, AKA James Royce Shannon) piled it up even deeper. Most famous for his lyrics for the Missouri Waltz, he tugged every possible heart-string with his other hits like Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ra (That's an Irish Lullaby), Back to Tennessee, My Pretty Eileen Goodnight, In the Hills of Old Kentucky, and even Aloha Sunset Land. In 1912, he wrote this tear-jerking favorite, Tales My Mother Told to Me. We dab away a tear or two as we share this heart-warming vintage sheet music image with you.

Barbara Trombley Thank You CardNext Issue

In our last issue, we shared Barbara Trombley's exclusive interview. We were surprised by how many emailed questions we received about Barbara and her remarkable glitter. Well, the big surprise was still to come in the mail. A few days ago, we opened a thank you card from Barbara herself, beautifully personalized with Art Glitter. This is a glittering treasure we will frame in the VIC office!

The big news for the next issue will be the winners of THE VIC CREATIVE CHALLENGE. Visit us on Facebook or at Vintage Image Craft to see the current entries or to submit your project!

We enjoyed a spectacular card-making class with rubber-stamp guru, Mike Strong. He talked with us about the ups and downs of the rubber stamp business (yes, that was a pun) and we'll be sharing his exclusive interview with you!

And the next issue will have a new, shorter and snappier name. In the spirit of conservation and downsizing, we are recycling some of the 28 bloated letters and spaces of Crafting With A Vintage Look, to create the leaner, greener, and easier to type, THE VIC. It all begins in the next issue!.
