This wonderful vintage image from the "golden age" of postcards is one
of a set of six published around 1910 by E. Nash. Postcards were the Victorian
equivalent of "social media." At a penny for postage (and two mail
deliveries a day), people could keep in touch for every occasion. The
postcard frenzy came to an end around 1920, a casualty of World War I,
which destroyed so many German postcard printing factories, and the
rise of the telephone.
