Victorian Christmas Cat Book Card
by Sandie Edwards is an intricate tribute to a truly feline Christmas,
rich in detail, texture and sentiment. We especially enjoyed how Sandie
carried the cat theme through the pages, using the images as focal
points among the vintage ephemera and embellishments. The lace trims,
ribbons, pearls and fabric touches made this a book we want to touch
and treasure. Sandie will
receive a copy of the wonderful book, Scraps: an inspirational field guide to collage by Elsebeth Gynther and Christine Clemmensen, generously
provided by Sterling Publishing. The
winning artwork will also be
displayed
on the Vintage Image Craft Home Page for one month!
Christmas Girl with Cats Card
by Lyneen Jesse echoes the composition of advertising illustrations
of the early 20th century. In particular, she captured the dreamy
coloration so popular at the time. The paper tole technique of layering
provided texture and energy. We particularly noticed how Lyneen used
cats from multiple images, being artful with the perspective. In this
simple paper craft, she chose complimentary elements, colors, and text
and brought them together in a way that really sparkle like a vintage
treasure. Lyneen will receive a VIC e-book from our Cards With a Past
series.
Merry Catmas Ornament
by Jennifer Willis is a whimiscal piece that could easily grace a
Victorian Christmas tree. “More is more” was the style of the time, and
she captured the giddy enjoyment of layering textures, patterns, and
colors. We thought the gathered lace combined with a tinsel border was
like fire and ice, while the gentle Victorian kitten looked quite at
home among the festive flowers. This could be a treasured tree-topper
for a cat lover! Jennifer will receive a Vintage
Image Craft
